October 2, 2021 — Talladega Superspeedway. NBC reporter Kelli Stavast interviews winner Brandon Brown while the grandstand chants an anti-Biden obscenity. Her on-air translation — "Let's go, Brandon" — becomes the euphemism of the year.
Within weeks the chant was a chart genre of its own. Loza Alexander's version hit #38 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the scene's highest peak. Bryson Gray's clean-lyric take knocked Adele off #1 on iTunes after YouTube and Instagram banned it. Forgiato Blow cut a country version; Topher, The Marine Rapper and D.Cure took theirs to #7 on Billboard. Five separate "Let's Go Brandon" records sat in the iTunes top 100 at once.
That is the MAGA rap economy in one story: a meme becomes a song, platforms ban it, the base buys it, and it charts higher than the pop stars it was never supposed to touch.
